Alekos Fassianos, the Greek painter, internationally famous, was born in Athens in 1935. A student of Yannis Moralis at the School of Fine Arts, where he studied from 1956 to 1960, he continued his studies in lithography in Paris (1960-1963), as a scholarship holder of the French government. In the following years he began to divide his time between the Greek and French capitals. His first solo exhibition, presented in 1960 at the A23 gallery in Athens, was followed by a series of numerous presentations in Greece and internationally, in cities such as Paris, Munich, Hamburg, Milan, Zurich, Stockholm, London and Tokyo. His participation in international exhibitions includes the São Paulo Biennale (1971), the Venice Biennale (1972) and the Baden-Baden Biennale of Graphic Design (1985). In 2004, a retrospective exhibition of his works entitled Pheasant, Mythologies of the Everyday was held at the National Gallery. In addition to painting and engraving, he has also worked in book illustration, applied arts, text writing and stage design, and has collaborated with the National Theatre (1975, 1976, 1978).

Greek children first learn about him and his work in primary school, as one of his painting was the cover of the Greek Language book in the first grades of primary school. He also painted for the covers of famous Greek singers and musicians like Manos Hadjidakis, Thanos Mikroutsikos, Georges Moustaki, Viky Moscholiou, Stavros Xarchakos, Giannis Markopoulos, Evanthia Reboutsika, Manolis Mitsias, Dimitris Mitropanos etc
