Let’s go for a walk to the Athens War Museum<\/a>!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Greek state, wishing to honor all those who fought for the freedom of our country, decided in 1964 to establish a War Museum. The Museum was inaugurated in July 1975 and is still in operation today. Its mission is the collection, preservation and exhibition of war relics, the study, documentation and promotion of the struggles of the Greek nation from antiquity to the present day, in order to stimulate national memory and promote the historical continuity and unity of Hellenism.<\/p>\n

Nowadays, the War Museum is the largest museum of military history in Greece and one of the largest in Southeastern Europe. In its premises, relics relating to the history of the Greeks from all war periods are exhibited, while there are also sections of historical, photographic and film archives. In 1988 the War Museum opened its first annex in Nafplio, in 1995 the second in Chania, while in 2000 it opened branches in Thessaloniki and Tripoli.<\/p>\n

During summer, the yard of the museum transforms into an open-air cinema, the Cine War Museum<\/strong>, with impeccable screenings and the latest technology in image and sound (as is located away from the residences of Kolonaki, allows for a proper Dolby sound, without restrictions). An urban garden atmosphere with accessibility for people with disabilities. The coffee bar\/restaurant of the cinema offers finger food, drinks and cocktails in addition to the usual snacks. Also, when a spectator comes to the venue, they receive a welcome drink anyway.<\/p>\n
