Chalandri is a lively northern suburb of Athens that blends a relaxed neighborhood feel with a vibrant social scene. Known for its leafy streets, stylish cafés, and excellent dining options, it’s a favorite among locals looking to unwind away from the city center. Visitors can enjoy a stroll through its pedestrian-friendly squares, explore boutique shops, or discover cultural spots like the nearby Rematia Chalandriou, a scenic green oasis ideal for walks and open-air events. With easy metro access and a welcoming atmosphere, Chalandri offers a more contemporary, local perspective on Athens life.

The International Jazz Day Festival Chalandri 2026 is kicking off, and for six days, Chalandri will become a vibrant stage. From April 25 to 30, jazz will be everywhere—in the streets, squares, bars, and metro stations—with dozens of musicians and free events for everyone. Chalandri Street Art Festival

The “Art of the Street” is celebrated every year on the last Saturday of October and with it “Free Expression in Public Space“, in line with the World Day established to recognize the aesthetic value of murals, street sculpture, graffiti, and even dancers or acrobats performing on the asphalt and pavement.

On this occasion, the municipality of Halandri, in the norther suburbs of Athens, is organizing this weekend, October 29 and 30, the 1st Street Art Festival, with the participation of street art and graffiti artists, with music groups, acrobatic groups, dancers, DJs and a workshop for children and adults, with free admission.

The sports center “Markos Papadakis (close to Nomismatokopeio Metro Station) of the municipality of Halandri, whose walls will be transformed into a field of artistic creation and expression with the theme of woman as a symbol, and which the public will be able to watch while they work, will be open on Saturday from 12:00 to 22:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 22:00.

In addition, young visitors to the festival, and beyond, will have the opportunity on Sunday morning to participate in an art workshop to learn about the art of mural painting and create their own graffiti.

The Street Art Festival is a co-organization of the municipality of Halandri and the Awesome Athens Experiences group, whose aim is to promote Athens and its suburbs through contemporary urban art.

The World Day of Street Arts and Free Expression in Public Space was launched in 2007 in France, at the initiative of the Federation des Arts de la Rue (Federation of Street Arts).
