In addition to Athens and Thessaloniki, this year the Festival will be held simultaneously in Larissa, Patras, Larisa and Chania.
The screenings of Athens will take place on French Institute of Athens, Greek Film Archive (Cine Lais), Danaos cinema, Astor cinema, Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation.
The Greek Francophone Film Festival, after a quarter-century of consistent presence in the Greek cultural scene, continues its journey and, as it does every spring, invites the public to its 26th edition this year.
The Mediterranean Cultural Season, celebrated in 2026 throughout France and the French-speaking world, adds color and rhythm to this year’s edition, which serves as an invitation to a convergence of the arts and cinema.
Through the 40 films in the program and the accompanying events, the audience will discover the diversity and many facets of Francophone cinematic creation, participate in the dialogue between cinema and all forms of art, cross the sea through music and film, and learn about the concerns and exchanges among experts in co-production and the geopolitics of cinema.
The trailer for this year’s edition, directed by the Greek-French filmmaker Inès Perot, is also aligned with the central theme. Her inspiration is the Mediterranean, which unites young and old through traditions, shared behaviors, and artistic expressions—a sense of communication and camaraderie that is both unique and familiar to all the peoples living around it.
The visual identity commissioned this year from the creative team The Birthdays Design is inspired by the spirit of collectivity and the power of human unity. The imprint of the 7th art within us, our imprints in the arts—each different, each unique—and together forming a powerful collective image. As they themselves state, “Technology can reproduce forms, but it cannot reproduce human friction. Cinema is a collection of imprints. Imprints of people, bodies, voices, hands. … It is a gathering of people, a process of physical and emotional interplay—and ultimately what remains is not just the image but also its trace within us.”
