Andros has been voted the number one destination in Greece for walking in 2025 by British tourists, and it will also be awarded for the best walking destination in Greece at the Greek Travel Awards 2025. This unique distinction was presented by the In Charge of the Greek National Tourism Organisation at a celebratory function on November 5, 2025, at the WTM on London.

The Andros award is the most recent of a series of prizes Andros has been conferred in recognition of the varying terrains and the incredible walking paths currently on the island. This island is proving more and more popular with tourists, who are looking for an adventurous holiday and the chance to relax at the same time, hiking and enjoying the mountain, the cliff views, and the beautiful coastal as well as old traditional villages in the surrounding countryside.

Amongst the many hidden gems of Greece, Andros is the only island with many longer hikes and still relatively undiscovered. There is a variety of scenic walks throughout Andros, with coastal paths and highly picturesque islands with expansive sea views, mountain trails with ancient ruins, and quaint villages from every direction, and many other trails featuring Andros’ silky miles of rugged coastline. The islands neat signposted paths make it approachable for beginners and very experienced hikers too.

A very famous Andros hiking route is the Andros route, with 100 km of well-developed pathways. With a sprawling view of Andros’ natural beauty, Andros 100 km cuts through the island’s lush stone built villages, providing views of picturesque ancient Andritik towns and the island’s Andros beaches. Olive groves, valleys and high cliffs provide the Andros route with unique diversity and several opportunities for breathtaking photographs.
