During your trip to Athens, don’t forget to visit Numismatic  Museum (Panepistimiou 12, Athens) at the heart of Athens and learn more from its permanent and periodic exhibitions – there are really interesting coins and other stuff from  ancient Greece and not only. The Numismatic Museum is one of the oldest state museums in Greece.
It was established in 1834 , the same year as the National Archaeological Museum.

The Numismatic Museum has 500,000 acquisitions -mainly coins, but also medals, lead balls, seals, weights, spears and talents- dating from the 14th century BC. until today.

The richest collections are those of ancient coins, dating from the 6th century BC. until the 5th century AD These are the coins of the city-states, kings and rulers of the ancient Greek and Hellenistic world, the Roman Republic, the Roman emperors and the provinces of the Roman Empire.

Tonight, it will be even more special the evening at the cafe of Numismatic Museum, as there is a live music night, an evening of jazz melodies by performer Tamuz Nissim and guitarist Giorgos Nazos, an artistic couple with a history of over a decade.
