Like today on 1971, Carl Bleggen, an American archaeologist who directed the later excavations of Troy,  managed to date the Homeric Troy of the Iliad to 1250 BC and also discovered Nestor’s palace at Pylos, died. He was born on 27/1/1887.

Nestor’s Palace is only a 3h drive from Athens, located close to Pylos, a beautiful greek village and Voidokilia  beach, one of the most famous landscape of Greece. Even if you haven’t many days in Athens, this is a perfect 2-days trip to do as an excursion. If you have some more days for your tour, you can also add Methoni’s Castle, the wetland of Gialova, Polilimnio Waterfalls, so in the end you will fill with really amazing memories, photos  and experiences.
