On 1884, June 30st, the Peloponnese railway station in Athens, designed by Ernest Chiller, is inaugurated. It is a miniature of the Sikftsi railway station in Istanbul.

The Athens-Peloponnese Railway Station, which was simply known as “Peloponnese Station” was the second central railway station of Athens after the Athens-Larissa station, which remains until today the central train station of Athens. The station was inaugurated on 30 June 1884 and belonged to the Piraeus-Athens-Peloponnese Railways (SPAP). The last trip was on 2005, August 7th.  From then, the station is abandoned, and there are plans to transform it into a museum which also will host cultural events, offices etc. Until then, you could always make a visit there and discover it like you are travelling by train in  Athens a century ago. Also, have your eyes wide open as in the area you will find some very interesting graffitis and street art murals.
