This is an amazing video of Athens while riding a bike, it is worth to watch it but it is even more worth to experience it. Athens is not the  friendliest city to bike, but it has  indeed some beautiful spots to  ride with safety such as  Stavros Niarchos Foundation or the first official  bike  route of the  city which connects Thissio area with Niarchos. There are many bike events and tours (free or paid) organized  in the city and are perfect to know Athens  in a different way, such as Athens Bike  Festival, the annual celebration for bike  enthusiasts  in Athens, which  usually takes place at the end of March in Pedion Areos. Run Bike Care 2026

The Association of Cancer Patients, Volunteers, Friends, and Doctors “K.E.F.I.” in Athens, in honor of the upcoming World Cancer Survivors Day, is organizing the “RUN – BIKE – CARE 2026” event on Sunday, June 7, 2026, starting at 9:00 a.m.

The start and finish will be at Syntagma Square for those who want to meet us and join us on the 10km bike ride, 5km run, or 2km walk.

Any individual or group can participate, literally from wherever they can and want to. Prerequisites: enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to people living with illness, their environment, and society as a whole.

Athens Cycling Tour

The 30th Athens Cycling Tour returns to our city, to ride our bikes around the beautiful centre of Athens. This top sporting event is organized by the Municipality of Athens through OPANDA and invites young and old to cross, apart from the classic 7 km route, the 16 km route.

Sunday, October 18 @ Syntagma Square
Registrations can only be made online at podilatikos.opanda.gr and will remain open until October 17, 2025 at 23:59. If you want to rent a bike and participate, contact us to help you by sending you to some renting companies with normal or  e-bikes. If you don’t want to participate but you want to be in Syntagma on this day, please be on foot or use public transport and don’t take your car, as there will be special traffic regulations around Syntagma.

Tour of Hellas 2026 – The great celebration of cycling is coming

The leading international cycling race returns, turning Greece into a global stage for sport and culture! The Grand Finish will take place  on 10 May 2026 from 13:00 in Syntagma square with exciting parallel actions such  as outdoor concerts, djs and happenings, face painting, animators & events for children, contests & great prizes.

11th Archaeological Cycling Tour of Acharnon to discover the ancient theatre of the area, 11 May 2025

On Sunday 11 May 2025, the 11th Archaeological Cycling Tour of Acharnon is organized by the Municipality of Acharnon and EPISKINION in cooperation with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Western Attica, in which we invite you to participate. The cultural cycling route will connect the theatres of the two largest municipalities of Attica, Athens and Acharnon, during the classical period of antiquity and will highlight the most important archaeological monuments of Acharnon with a focus on the Ancient Theatre.

There will be two routes, one long and one short.
The start of the long route will be at 9.00 a.m. (pre-gathering at 8.30 a.m.), while the short route will start at 10.00 a.m. (pre-gathering at 9.30 a.m.).

The long route starts at 9.00 a.m. from the Ancient Theatre of Acharnon. with first stop Ancient Theatre of Dionysus at the Acropolis and intermediate stops at the Acharnian Gates , Acharnian Street (Kotzia Square) , the Vaulted Tomb of Acharno (Red Mill) , the Mound of Sophocles ( Baribombi) , the Hadrianic Aqueduct and finish at the Ancient Theatre of Acharnon at 1.00 pm.

The short route starts at 10.00 am, from the Ancient Theatre of Acharnon , with first stop at the Ancient Road , (side road of Attiki Odos), second stop at the Vaulted Tomb of Acharnon (Red Mill) , next stop at the City Hall of Acharnon, where cyclists will watch a performance of Karagiozis and finish at the Ancient Theatre of Acharnon at 1.00 pm.

At the end of the route in front of the Ancient Theatre (in Ancient Theatre Street) at 1.00 p.m. there will be a contest for two bicycles and a helmet, food and refreshments from local businesses will be offered and a musical event will be held by the Acharnon Philharmonic Orchestra.
