A two-day series of public events at the Goulandris National Museum of Natural History

Saturday, October 3 & Sunday, October 4, 2026 | (10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.)

How big is a bittern’s brain? Is there a hierarchy among vultures at mealtime? What dangers do loggerhead sea turtles face? What about the antlers of red deer? Are there fish in Lake Prespa that are found nowhere else in the world? From how far away can a wolf spot its prey? Do sharks and rays ultimately threaten humans, or are they threatened by humans? How far do black-winged stilts travel each year to reach Greece? How many insects does a bat eat in one night? What kind of care do wild animals need when they are injured or sick?

The Goulandris National Museum of Natural History and the Alliance for Wildlife collective initiative welcome you to “Wild Weekend”!

A two-day event for families and children, designed to introduce young and old alike to Greece’s iconic wildlife species!

Valued guardians of Greek biodiversity and our guides this weekend: ANIMA, ARCHELON, the Hellenic Ornithological Society, the Thrace Biodiversity Protection Society, the Prespa Protection Society, the Hellenic Institute of Speleological Research, Kallisto, iSea, MEDASSET, TETHYS, and WWF Greece are waiting for us with fascinating information and innovative educational programs, so we can discover together the marvelous—albeit challenging—world of wildlife.

Are you ready?!
