This page is designed to be your go-to guide for avoiding inconveniences and making the most of your day—whether you’re using public transportation or driving (though we strongly recommend avoiding the city center by car!).
For up-to-date information on traffic conditions and public transport disruptions, you can check the calendar on www.apergia.gr. However, if you plan to visit Athens city center during such times, it’s often best to explore on foot—it’s easier, more enjoyable, and lets you discover the city’s charm up close.
3 & 4 Febrary 2026: 48h Taxi strike
Heads up — there’s a nationwide 48-hour taxi strike scheduled in Athens and throughout Greece on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 February 2026. During these two days, taxi services will be largely unavailable, which may affect transfers from the airport or port and make getting around harder. If you’re travelling during this period, it’s a good idea to rely on public transport, trams, metro, or pre-arranged private transfers instead.
