Tip of the day 11/5/2022 – Explore Portuguese/Brazilian culture in Athens!

On the occasion of the World Portuguese Language Day on 11 May, a tribute to the Brazilian poet Vinicius De Moraes, the cosmopolitan and bohemian Carioca (native of Rio de Janeiro), takes place tonight at the cafe of Numismatic Museum (El. Venizelou 12, Athina 106 71) by Miranda Veroulis, jazz singer and songwriter, known for her long presence in the Greek jazz and world scene, who has been awarded the Knight of the Order of Rio Branco medal by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for her work in promoting Brazilian music in Greece.

The Brazilian Vinicius de Moraes was a versatile artist, poet and diplomat, collaborator of leading Brazilian composers, lyricist of the great hits since the birth of bossa nova (such as the legendary “Girl from Ipanema”) and playwright.

In this new project “Miranda Canta Vinicius“, Miranda, together with her fine collaborators, presents a tribute to the great work of Vinicius, singing some of the wonderful compositions of his partners, such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell, Toquinho, Carlos Lyra, Chico Buarque, etc., while introducing us to the lyrical world of the poet, rendering his lyrics in Greek.
