Until 25 February, young and old alike are invited to discover the impressive Butterfly Trail and experience an innovative mixed reality experience that combines science, nature and creativity.
Following The Butterfly Trail, visitors are invited to learn the story of Dr. Pelegrin, an eccentric scientist and botanist who brought rare species of butterflies from Peru, which he uses to build an unusual VR “greenhouse”. As The Butterfly Trail is an innovative, VR botanical garden, it allows the public to interact with the butterflies via their smartphones. After scanning a QR code and downloading an AR app, we can… “feed” the chrysalises with nectar ampoules, thus transforming them into colourful butterflies that surround us and create a spectacular scene inside the greenhouse. When the tour is over, visitors can take souvenir photos with the colourful butterflies in the specially designed area.
From London, where it started its great journey, Dr. Pelegrin’s VR greenhouse has arrived in Athens and, through the power of technology, it aims to promote environmental sensitivity, inviting visitors to take a special journey into a world where imagination meets nature and culture meets technology. This original experience highlights the power of technology and its ability to create sustainable future solutions, while confirming PPC’s commitment to protecting the environment and promoting ecological awareness.
The Butterfly Trail is open to the public daily from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and on weekends it is open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Each tour lasts 10 minutes and accommodates groups of up to 40 people, allowing visitors to enjoy this unique experience with free admission.
